Description

The Director, Benefits & Wellness is responsible for the planning, direction, and implementation of benefits, compensation, and wellness initiatives for the organization in support of talent development and strategic growth goals. Manages all benefits plan activities to include vendor selection and evaluation, employee education and enrollment, analysis, and compliance, ensuring the successful function of programs and their ability to support recruitment and retention efforts. Manages relationships with benefit providers and surveys industry and employee population to determine company's competitive position and response to employee benefit preferences. Programs include, but are not limited to, Health & Welfare Benefit Programs, Wellness Program and Committee Operations, Retirement Plan Administration support, and Compensation Administration. Reports to the Vice President, Human Resources.



Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Design, administer, modify, and analyze benefits policies and programs to ensure options are current, competitive, and in compliance with all applicable requirements
  • Analyze compensation policies and practices, applicable regulations, and market salary data to provide a competitive and effective compensation plan
  • Direct preparation and distribution of pertinent information and required notifications via written communication, electronic announcements and postings, and delivery of need-to-know information through regular departmental or divisional meetings
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the continuity of HR services; updates as necessary to enhance customer service and company profitability
  • Promotes enterprise-wide wellness program, sponsoring a committee to spearhead company-campaigns and educational programs; develop metrics for reporting on return on investment
  • Collaborate with HR team members to provide mentoring and development in HR in general, and benefits, compensation and employee engagement in particular
  • Manage consultant and vendor relationships to ensure market research and competitive pricing and benefits are in place; vendors are providing services as contracted; and that all providers consistently deliver excellent customer service to plan participants 
  • Develop a comprehensive communications plan around employee engagement and benefits and maintains responsibility for ensuring its delivered through a variety of media
  • Ensure compliance with applicable provisions of ERISA, ADEA, ACA, HIPAA; any and all regulations affecting employee benefits and compensation
  • Maintain company commitment to compliance with provisions of the Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA) through employee and manager education, maintaining a compliant process, and tracking intent and ability to return to work through contact with employees and collaboration with Safety and Operations teams
  • Host opportunities onsite and via webinar for vendors to connect with employees throughout the year on a variety of benefits options and educational opportunities
  • Plan employee surveys to ensure feedback is part of benefits planning; participates in wage surveys to determine benefits and compensation position relative to market. Analyzes results and presents information for senior leadership decision-making
  • Create a wide variety of reports using multiple data sources to inform decision-making, track and report on the effectiveness of HR initiatives, and convey information to employees, leadership and external vendors as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least seven (7) years’ experience in Benefits Administration.
  • Demonstrated experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Proven capability to create and use reports to streamline benefits administration, communications, and the analysis and presentation of analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience creating reports; using tools including Microsoft Office products to streamline benefits administration, communication, and analysis and presentation of data
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability working independently and as part of an established team.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SCP certifications preferred.
